Everybody uses white lies on a daily basis, mainly to avoid hurting ones feelings. Would you tell your best friend he/she is no good at their passion and tell him/her to just give up and move on? Or would you support them and help them become better? Naturally, anybody would prefer to support their friend because it is only respectful compared to saying the harsh truth. White lies are often way more respectful because the truth can hurt. Spare the persons feelings and make white lies.
The truth may not be the best thing to say if you want to be nice to someone or to avoid trouble. For example: you don't tell a kid that Santa isn't real. By doing that you will burst their bubble and make them cry. A white lie can preserve a kids innocence. What if your child caught you doing "naughty things" you wouldn't go through the whole explanation, instead you would lie to preserve their innocence and to avoid causing more problems. The truth is painful sometimes, so it is only normal to use a white lie.
A white lie can also act as a social grace, for instance: when you're eating at someone else's place. If you don't like their food no one would say "I hate it." Instead, one would say "It's delicious" just to be polite and to please the host. It is only more polite and respectful to lie to them their hurting their feelings because you don't want to lie. So do you still believe while lies are just not worth it?
In conclusion, while lies are actually a polite way to express ourselves and to avoid problems the truth would bring. You might still think white lies are horrible but I guarantee you, use them more often than you think.
