The Art Of Cherrleading By Heidi Savard

Cheerleading isn't only about throwing girls in the air or swinging pompoms. Its about team work, spirit. Its a passion where dance and gymnastics are combined and makes a difference in a life. Waiting to be caught is probably the most harsh feeling. Cheerleaders need to get to know each other, they are like family. They stick together, have each others back and need to trust one another. But sadly it's still not considered a sport.

I agree with the fact that cheerleading is a sport. Not only is it a sport but its takes guts and talent. Cheerleaders get thrown in the air and have to trust to b e caught. Football players runs a few yards while cheerleaders go through mental and physical pain while learning there cheers (learned from experience ). They have to meet requirements to cheer. it involves a lot of conditions, practicing and a lot of athletic abilities. Dance and gymnastics are considered sports but cheerleading consist of dancing and gymnastics, so why shouldn't it be considered a sport?

Just because cheerleaders cheer for another sport doesn't mean it can't be a sport... There are several hours of work cheerleaders do to prepare for things like games or competitions. They need inspiration and creativity for all their cheers and everything. Cheerleading is under appreciated, in my opinion! Stretching and jumping is not only thing they do. They jump, tumble, stunt, compete, spirit, cheer...! I think cheerleaders risk a lot while practicing the sport because there are several ways they could get injured. Being in sport usually means that you are part of a team, and since cheerleading that's needs to interact 100% with their team mates... There is no possible way it can be refused as a sport. Overall cheerleaders put a lot of effort, hard work and dedication in what they do and think they deserve more credit for it!

There is no reason why cheerleading shouldn't be considered a sport. They have all the criteria as any other sports, they need to be fit, practice, etc. Its not fair for us and it s definitely not faire for them not to be called a sport... They work so hard and do amazing things. I would say with no doubts that cheerleading is a sport. Here is a video of cheerleading competitions
