"Ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind or forgitten."-Lilo & Stich. This is a Lilo & Stich definition of family. In the movie they had up and downs but did everything to stay togethet and not exclude one another. Yet, it is only one of the million definitions that family could mean. You'll see in this blog, definitions of family and my personal opinion.
Like in the Movie Lilo & Stich, they say this quote, "This is my family. I found it all on my own. It's little, and broken, but still good. Yeah, still good." This is a meaningful quote because families are like that, they aren't perfect and in fact, no family really is! They are your family and are good enough for you. Sometimes a sibling or your parents may annoy you but at the end of the day you're all there for each other. You could also take the dictionnary definition, to define the word family. The definition is "parents and their children, considered as a group, wether dwelling together or not", the "traditional" family. But I don't approve this definition.
My definition of family isn't really the dictionnary one. Family isn't always composed of a mom, a dad, a sister, a brother and a dog like the family is usually seen as. Now a days, we have lots of different families like; seperated, monoparental, reconstitute, adopted and many more. In my words, it is the people who take care of you in all situations and give you the best they can for you. Yet, I know some family aren't the same, aren't treated the same, or ain't living in the same lifestyles of others. So, I understand this may affect how people define the word "family". Some people may say that they have no family, but friends can also be family.
But as long as you have parents, siblings or friends who mean a lot for you and take care of you, then you might as well say that they are your family. It isn't always the blood who mean the word "family". If you take for example, adoption, they don't have the same genes but still love each other. In this blog you saw few of the millions of definitions of family, do you see family differently? Or understand that not everybody defines family the same way?
